Chapter 1. Introduction

Enhydra Kelp 7.x differs a lot from the previous Enhydra Kelp versions. It is an Eclipse plugin which makes it easy to use the Enhydra XML Compiler (XMLC), the Enhydra Data Object Design Studio (DODS) and the Enhydra Application Server within an integrated development environment.

Chapter 2. System requirements

The minimum recommended system configuration is:

  • Enhydra and/or Enhydra Enterprise Application Server

  • Supported Eclipse version

Enhydra Kelp requires the Kelp plugin jars, Enhydra 'toolbox jar', Enhydra XMLC and Enhydra DODS classes to be in the plugin class path.

Chapter 9. What's new in Enhydra Kelp 7.0-beta1

This chapter lists the new or updated features associated with Enhydra Kelp 7.0-beta1.

  • News and bugs fixing:

    • Implemented Enhydra Enterprise - JBoss support.

    • Sources for Enhydra Kelp and Enhydra Kelp releases are unified (file based server version detection implemented).

    • Updated all binaries compatible with one present in Enhydra (Enterprise) Server version 7.0-beta1 (DODS, XMLC, EAF and Ant).

Chapter 10. What's new in Enhydra Kelp 6.6-1

This chapter lists the new or updated features associated with Enhydra Kelp 6.6-1.

  • News and bugs fixing:

    • Reimplemented complete Enhydra Kelp plugin to support Eclipse 3.1.1 Java IDE.

    • Additionally (to the existing functionalities) implemented Enhydra Application debugging support (check Enhydra Kelp documentation for more detail explanation).

    • Enhydra project detection model improved - Kelp plugin will locate adequate Enhydra application project if you have opened one of project resource files in editor pane (you don't have to explicitly select project or one of its resources in 'Navigation' or 'Package Explorer' three).

    • 'enhydra-ant xmlc' external target is (by default - configurable option) started during project auto build process.

Chapter 11. Differences between Enhydra Kelp 6.X and 5.1 versions

  • Enhydra Kelp is now realised as Eclipse plugin (only).

  • Kelp Eclipse plugin is significantly changed to support new Eclipse 3.1 release and will not be able to work on older Eclipse releases.

  • Enhydra Application launch configurations adapted for Enhydra (Enterprise) 6.X Server releases.

Chapter 12. Installation, platform, and system information

These release notes apply to Enhydra Kelp 6.6-1.

Installation

  • Enhydra Kelp is realised as Eclipse plugin (exclusively). It should not be installed over an existing Enhydra Kelp installation (it will corrupt previously installed kelp version - reconfigure shared 'toolbox.properties' file).

  • Source code for building installations is included in source distribution.

Platform support

Through the open-source development process, Enhydra Kelp has been used on a wide variety of Windows and Linux based platforms.

Documentation is written in XML format and transformed in HTML with DocBook templates, version 1.61.3.
