Chapter 1. Introduction

This document describes how to get up and running quickly with Enhydra, specifically:

  • How to start Multiserver

  • How to run the sample applications

This document assumes that you have already configured Enhydra 5.1 and the sample applications - using application wizard.

Chapter 2. Starting Multiserver

If you are running Windows, you can use batch files in /bin directory of enhydra root.

At the command window, change directories to the /bin directory of your Enhydra installation. For example, if you installed Enhydra in /usr/local, then enter the following command:

cd /usr/local/enhydra5.1/bin

The multiserver start batch file is located in the bin directory of the enhydra5.1 directory. So to start the Multiserver, enter:

multiserver

If you are running Linux, you can use start scripts in the same directory. So to start the Multiserver on Linux, enter:

./multiserver

You will see output from the Multiserver displayed in the output window, as Multiserver starts up. The default numbers of ports in enhydra example applications are listed here: (html , pdf )

This Multiserver Administration Console has the following default username and password:

username = "admin"
password = "enhydra"

To shut down the Multiserver, type ctrl-c in the window from which you started it. For more information on how to use the Multiserver Administration console, as well as other features of Enhydra, refer to the Enhydra Documentation page.

Chapter 3. Running the Enhydra Sample Applications - using Application Wizard

To start simple application wizard enter appwizard in command window (on Windows) or start appwizard script on Linux. GUI java application for creating simple application and its configuration can create Enhydra super servlet or simple Web application. Wizard creates build.xml file for building java application.

In the command or shell window change directory to the root of your application. To start building process, using jakarta-ant, just enter ant in command or shell window.

Appwizard generates output directory with java classes, configuration files, archive file and start scripts. Wizard makes run script for starting on Linux platform and run.bat file for starting on Windows.

To start application change directory in the command window to the output directory

cd output

and enter

on Windows:

run

on Linux:

./run

You will see output from the Multiserver displayed in the command window, as Multiserver starts up. The output will indicate that Multiserver is listening for requests on port 8002. To view the Enhydra simple application, enter the following URL in your browser:

http://localhost:8002/
